Ultraviolet LED Flashlights (385nm)
These pocket size flashlights contain light emitting diodes (LED’s)* which emit ultraviolet light at a wavelength of 385nm (longwave or UVA). Along with the ultraviolet light in the 385nm wavelength, LED’s also emit some light in the visible spectrum. These LED flashlights are fitted with a piece of Kokomo longwave filter glass which blocks most of the visible light waves from passing. Unlike other LED ultraviolet flashlights on the market, these flashlights emit very little visible light.
These LED flashlights provide a powerful beam of light to make fluorescent longwave items fluoresce, even in normal room lighting. As a result, these flashlights are great for spotting mineral fluorescence, special markings on new US paper currency and authentication markings on credit cards or other forms of ID. These flashlights are also great for antique and artifact collectors to detect repairs (some glues used in repair work fluoresces brightly under longwave ultraviolet light), or any other application where a strong beam of longwave ultraviolet light may be useful.

51 LED Flashlight = $80.00
This pocket size UV LED flashlight contains 51 LED’s, and has a broader range of UV coverage than the nine LED flashlight. This LED flashlight has been used by the National Park Service and others in the detection and study of White-Nose Syndrome (WNS), an emergent fungal disease in hibernating bats. This LED flashlight is 5.75-inches long, 2.25 inches in diameter (head) and 1.5-inches in diameter (stem). This flashlight weighs 10.5 ounces. This LED flashlight comes complete with three AA batteries and a convenient black nylon case with belt loop.
* LEDs are solid state devices that do not require heating of a filament in order to create light like other types of bulbs. In LED’s, electricity is passed through a chemical compound which becomes “excited” by the increase in energy. As a result, the compound generates light.
