Dr. Kerry Cooper is a nephrologist, currently working for Amgen, Inc. as a medical director of clinical research. Kerry grew up in southern New Jersey and was exposed to fluorescent specimens from the Franklin Mine at an early age, collecting his first piece of "red and green" during a family trip. Kerry started seriously collecting fluorescent minerals in the mid 1990s, and has focused his attention on aesthetics for which he has a keen eye. Focusing on collecting small cabinet and cabinet sized specimens, he has always had a love for margarosanite, amassing approximately 14 quality display pieces!
Recently, Kerry has turned to the "DARK" side, focusing his efforts on non-fluorescent minerals, mainly southwestern smithsonites and orange minerals, his favorite color. His smithsonite collection from Choix, Sinaloa, Mexico is possibly one of the best in the world. He still has an extensive collection of Greenland, southwestern United States and worldwide fluorescent mineral specimens.
After much thought and soul searching, Kerry has decided to sell his extensive Franklin, New Jersey collection. He hopes that these carefully selected pieces will find new homes, and he is hopeful that the sale of his collection will put some excitement back into the fluorescent mineral collecting community. Polman Minerals is pleased and honored that Kerry has given us the opportunity to be the exclusive agent for the sale of this prominent collection.

Some important notes regarding the sale of this collection. Please read the notes below before purchasing specimens.
- Size of specimens – The size of each specimen has been listed as closely as possible. These size listing are not exact, due to the non-uniform shape of the specimens.
- Esperite specimens – Due to the limitations of my digital camera, some of the esperite specimens did not photograph well. As a result, I have had to alter some of the photographs to better represent the true appearance of the specimen. If you have any questions concerning these specimens, or if you would like to see them in person prior to purchasing, just let me know.
- Payment - Payment must be made in full prior to shipment of the specimens. Payment may be made by credit card (Visa, MasterCard, and Discover), PayPal, direct wire transfer of funds, checks (checks must clear bank prior to shipment).
- Review of Specimens – Due to the high value of most of these specimens, customers may want to see the specimens in person before committing to purchase. We will be happy to ship specimens out for review. However, payment must be received prior to shipment, and will be refunded if the specimen is returned. Customer must pay shipping costs both ways (see information on shipping below). If a specimen is out for review, it will be marked “RESERVED” on the website. If someone else is interested in that specimen, they will be put on a “first come, first served” waiting list. If the specimen is purchased by the original customer, it will be marked “SOLD”. If it is returned, the first customer on the waiting list will be notified that it is now available for sale.
- Shipping and insurance – The safest way to ship high value items is by insured registered mail through the US Post Office. If you read the fine print for FedEx and UPS insurance you’ll see that the high value of mineral specimens will never be reimbursed should the package get lost or damaged. Registered mail is more expensive, but is the way that I prefer to ship specimens over $500.00. If the customer does not want to pay the extra cost for registered mail, they must notify me in writing (email) prior to shipment, and by doing so, assume all liability should that specimen get lost or damaged.
